Newfield Green library could be under threat from Council review

by richardshaw on 13 September, 2012

Newfield Green library could be placed under threat following a Council review of libraries.

Labour councillors, who control Sheffield City Council and announced the review, stated that they could not rule out the option of closures.

The review, which is currently out to consultation, has been criticised by local Liberal Democrats.

Richard Shaw, local Liberal Democrat campaigner, said:

“I’m very worried about Labour’s talk about closing libraries. This is something local people must help us stop.

“Local Liberal Democrats have long avoided closing libraries even though we were under hard financial pressures. Now Labour are wanting to close libraries to score a cheap political hit.”

I’ve completed a consultation questionnaire and I’m urging everyone I know to do so too. We must fight to save our local services.
