Council hopes to partially reopen Hutcliffe Wood Road by Friday

by richardshaw on 27 April, 2016

I was informed on Tuesday evening that the ‪’Hutcliffe Hole’‬ has now been filled with concrete up to the lower level of the road. The road will be relaid when the concrete has gained enough strength over Wednesday and Thursday.

Council officers hope that by Friday the road will then be opened to single-way traffic, controlled by traffic lights. The road will be monitored before being opened back up fully. Pedestrians are also now able to pass the site.

Several residents have contacted me to say they were aware of a large depression in the road as early as last Tuesday. Council officers have informed me that prior to the collapse “a small area of the road had a depression which was due to be investigated but the depression was not considered to be dangerous or require immediate action”.
