Richard’s road safety campaign continues

Richard Shaw is continuing to act on the road safety concerns of local people. Many residents have been contacting Richard about their worries about the poor visibility at junctions caused by vehicles parking on corners. This includes the junction of Westwick Road and Westwick Crescent in Greenhill, which has seen several near misses in recent weeks, sometimes involving children.

After being contacted by Richard, the Council has added a request for double-yellow lines to their list of future improvements, both there and also at the junction of Dalewood Road and Hutcliffe Wood Road in Beauchief.

Richard said:
“When very careful drivers can almost be run off the road, or almost hit pedestrians or cyclists, you know there’s a problem. I’m supporting calls by local people and neighbourhood groups for improvements to our junctions for the sake of all road users and pedestrians. I’m glad that Council officers have listened to my concerns about several junctions in ourĀ area and hopefully action will now be taken.”
