I joined scores of protesters outside the Town Hall earlier this month, to protest against the planned closure of Greenhill and Jordanthorpe libraries, as well as up to 14 other libraries across Sheffield. Both myself and Beauchief & Greenhill ward’s Lib Dem councillor Simon Clement-Jones addressed the assembled crowd and made clear why we opposed the library closures.

Representatives of the Friends of Greenhill Library community group were also there and the children of Greenhill Village Pre-School had made a very nice banner, asking the council to “please save our library”.

Around 31,000 people across Sheffield have now signed the combined petitions against library closures.
