The Council is currently consulting with local residents regarding plans to sell and redevelop part of the former site of Hemsworth School on Blackstock Road. The Council intends to sell around half of the site for redevelopment, mostly that part containing the former carpark and school foundations, while retaining the rest of the site as a recreation area.
A meeting of local residents was held at the Gleadless Valley Methodist Church on Monday 15th July where the Council explained their plans.
Previously planning approval was given for the construction of a care home and housing association bungalows, however these were not built and planning permission has since expired.
Interested local residents who would like to complete a questionnaire regarding the future of the site should contact Fiona Champion, the Council’s Regeneration Manager, at fiona.champion@sheffield.gov.uk.
