Dumped sofa on Carter Road, Heeley

Recently a  sofa was fly-tipped amongst the trees and bushes at the end of Carter Road. I reported this on the 21st February and it was removed a few days later.

Fly-tipping is a real problem for our area and has been increasing since the Blackstock Road waste and recycling centre, the busiest site in the city, had its opening hours reduced to four days a week and the cancellation of the free green waste collection service.

Residents have been complaining that there has been increased fly-tipping around the entrance to Blackstock Road tip itself as people turn up during the week to find it closed and have been dumping their rubbish in the surrounding woodland and also in the trees and hedges around Overend Road and the Horse & Groom pub.

Graffiti has a really negative effect on an area. If left unchecked, it can encourage an ever greater amount anti-social behaviour so it is important that it is cleaned up as quickly as possible. In January the road signs to Carrfield Court were daubed in grey paint. I reported this to Streets Ahead and it was cleaned up soon afterwards.

The local Lib Dem team work hard all year round for the community, not just at election time. If there is a problem in your area that you would like help with then please do get in touch with us.
